Subject: possible entry?

Greetings to the editors of the Stanford Encyclopedia
of Philosophy --

Some of the philo resources on the web now include citations
to R. Buckminster Fuller and his poetic philosophical work,
Synergetics: Explorations in the Geometry of Thinking.
For example:

http://www.earlham.edu/~peters/philinks.htm
http://carmen.artsci.washington.edu/panop/home.htm
http://www-personal.monash.edu.au/~dey/phil/miscarea.htm

Most of these (not all) link to my site.

I'd be willing to contribute an entry, but perhaps your
editorial board is of the opinion the Fuller was not a
philosopher and/or not be of interest to students of
that subject.

Re: Fuller as 20th Century Philosopher see:

Any thoughts?

Dear Kirby,
  You write:

Thanks for your suggestion and for volunteering. I think
I will have to leave this in the hands of the members of
the Editorial Board. I am sure that if and when they decide
that an entry on Fuller is appropriate for the Encyclopedia,
they will commission one. You probably already know that
we use only experts with Ph.D.s (no grad students) who have
published on the topics in question. Also, from our editorial
policies, listed at http://plato.stanford.edu/info.html#policies,
you will notice that persons submitting unsolicited requests
have to be "qualified" to do so.
I am sure you can understand the reason for all of this.
  All the best,
Yours,
Ed

Dear Ed --

Thanks for getting back to me. As you may know, Stanford
has recently aquired the Fuller Archives [1], so it's probably
safe to anticipate more Stanford-based students will be
designing reading programs which involve delving into that
asset.

Many grad level degree programs will have ways to justify
including some RBF on their syllabi and bibliographies --
even the philosophy department is likely to get its share of
thesis proposals along these lines.

A lot of Fuller Schoolers are watching with some interest as
Ph.D. programs gear up to accommodate student demand -- given
the dearth of university-level offerings in this regard until
recently, there's a lot of catching-up to do [2]. In the
meantime, cyberculture has continued to take Fuller seriously
-- and we have some doctors of philosophy among us, certainly.

I'll be interested to see if your Encyclopedia decides to
commission an entry at some point, and from whom. Let me
know if you need some names.

Again, thanks for your prompt reply.

Kirby
